Poland Confirms Toll System Overhaul for 1 February 2026
Significant cost increases introduced
The Polish government has officially finalized a major structural revision of its heavy transport tolling system, confirming the cost increase that will hit the trucking industry from February 1, 2026, despite the strong backlash from Polish carriers.
Following a ~5% inflation-based toll adjustment on January 1, this week the Ministry of Infrastructure has published the final text of the next regulation (Dz.U. 2026 poz. 33), mandating another massive ~33% base rate hike and the addition of 645 km of roads to the toll network, effective 1 February 2026.
While the new tolls will still remain lower per km than existing rates in some neighboring countries like Germany, Czechia and Hungary, the sharp 33% toll rate increase combined with the expansion of tolled stretches by approximately 12% may force a recalculation of freight rates for some of the domestic and transit routes.
It is important to note that tolls at private concession sections of several motorways in Poland (sections of A1 Gdańsk-Toruń, A2 Świecko–Konin, A4 Katowice–Kraków) are not affected by the state e-TOLL network changes.
